The Opportunity Compact
The Opportunity Compact is a comprehensive set of principles and policy recommendations set forth by the National Urban League to empower all Americans to be full participants in this country’s economic and social mainstream.
The words “opportunity” and “compact” offer a concise and self-explanatory description of what the Opportunity Compact represents – an agreement among interested parties to take actions that will improve the chances for advancement and progress of those living in America’s cities.

EmpowerED: Young Professionals Unite with KAUL for Positive Impact

The Knoxville Area Urban League Young Professionals (KAULYP) is an affiliate of the National Urban League Young Professionals (NULYP), a nationwide network of young professionals who provide leadership development, economic empowerment and community volunteer opportunities for other young professionals.

Knox County Government is dedicated to upholding equal opportunity in all programs and services, ensuring compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Tennessee Code Annotated 4-21-904. These regulations prohibit discrimination based on race, color, or national origin against participants or clients of County programs and/or services.

Our commitment is designed to guarantee that everyone, regardless of race, color, national origin, or limited English proficiency, has the opportunity to participate in federal or state-funded programs. Title VI of the Civil Rights Act specifically addresses discrimination in federally funded programs, while TCA 4-21-904 focuses on prohibiting discrimination in state-funded programs. Your rights and fair treatment are at the forefront of our efforts to foster an inclusive and accessible community for all.
