The Knoxville Area Urban League believes education is a powerful tool for strengthening individuals, families and communities. Our education programs provide accessible learning opportunities designed to increase knowledge, build practical skills, expand access to resources and support greater economic and personal well-being.

Through workshops, seminars, community events and strategic partnerships, KAUL connects community members with education in areas that support everyday life and long-term success.

Programming may include financial education, workforce and career development, digital literacy, health and wellness education, housing resources, leadership development and other topics responsive to the needs of our community.

We believe every student, regardless of background or ZIP code, deserves access to high-quality education, strong mentorship and the resources necessary to thrive academically and personally.

Through initiatives such as KAULed 2 Lead, Shoes for School, music education and youth development programming, KAUL works to prepare young people for lifelong success while strengthening the broader community.

Every individual who possesses entrepreneurial vision, ingenuity, drive and desire should have access to resources needed to establish and grow a viable business.

The KAUL helps to bring businesses and jobs to areas where poverty is an everyday reality, and people have been profoundly affected by long-term unemployment.

The loans and technical assistance are strategic investments that will build strong economic ecosystems, which will support entrepreneurship and business growth in economically disadvantaged communities.

Every individual and family deserves the opportunity to achieve safe, stable and affordable housing. Since 1971, the Knoxville Area Urban League has served the community as a HUD-approved housing counseling agency and was the first nonprofit in Tennessee to receive that designation.

Today, KAUL continues to provide trusted housing support through counseling, education, financial empowerment and community-based initiatives designed to help individuals build long-term stability and economic mobility.

Through programs focused on housing readiness, financial literacy, neighborhood empowerment and sustainable homeownership pathways, the KAUL remains committed to strengthening families and creating equitable access to opportunity across the Greater Knoxville community.

We connect individuals and families to workforce development opportunities that support long-term economic mobility and career success. Through comprehensive employment and career readiness initiatives, the KAUL helps job seekers build critical skills, increase access to quality employment opportunities and strengthen their ability to compete in today’s workforce.

Programs are designed to support individuals at various stages of their career journey and may include career exploration, job readiness training, resume and interview preparation, digital literacy, financial empowerment, professional development workshops, career coaching, employer connections and workforce certification pathways.

By working collaboratively with community partners, educational institutions and employers, KAUL is committed to developing a stronger workforce while creating sustainable pathways to self-sufficiency and upward mobility throughout the Greater Knoxville community.
