Shoes for School

Shoes for School is one of the Knoxville Area Urban League’s signature community initiatives focused on helping students and families prepare for a successful school year. Each year, the event brings together community partners, volunteers, businesses, educators and supporters to provide essential school supplies, resources and services that help reduce barriers to educational success for underserved students throughout the Greater Knoxville community.

More than a back-to-school giveaway, Shoes for School is a community-centered experience designed to support the overall well-being of students and families. The event often includes access to educational resources, health and wellness information, community services, youth engagement activities and opportunities for families to connect with organizations dedicated to student success.

Through Shoes for School, the KAUL reinforces its commitment to educational equity, youth empowerment, and community investment by ensuring students begin the school year with the tools, confidence and support needed to thrive academically and personally. The event also reflects the power of collective impact, demonstrating what can be achieved when the community comes together to invest in the future of its young people.
