Shoes for School 2020: Takeout Edition
This year, The Knoxville Area Urban League arranged for delivery or pickup of more than 1,500 pairs of new tennis shoes and 3,000 backpacks of school supplies for thousands of local children in coordination with our nonprofit partners.
We will not let the pandemic stop us from giving our local schoolchildren the help they need, and this new format allowed us to provide shoes, school supplies and even masks to our most in-need kids. Read more here.
We hope to return to Caswell Park in 2021, and we need your help more than ever! For more information or to get involved next year, contact Brenda Roper at 865-524-5511.
Shoes for School is an annual back-to-school event that provides new shoes and school supplies for more than 1,500 area children. Each spring, we work with other non-profit agencies to help us identify and register children age 5-12 who most need the help. Purchasing shoes and school supplies for over 1,500 children is a big undertaking, but seeing the delight on the kids’ faces and knowing that providing these basic necessities helps them feel more comfortable and confident with their peers makes it all worthwhile.
We invite you to support Shoes for School by clicking the “Donate” button below or mailing a check and the completed form below to the Urban League at PO Box 1911 Knoxville, TN 37901. Sponsorship for one pair of shoes is only $20.
The annual Shoes for School program is made possible by our generous sponsors, nonprofit partners and community supporters. To get involved, contact Brenda Roper at 865-524-5511.
