Homeownership Workshop – This three-session workshop geared toward low to moderate income level families covers the details involved in selecting, purchasing, financing and maintaining a home. Classes are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 8:30 and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Budget and Credit Workshop – This six-week workshop helps participants understand their spending habits and make wise spending choices so that they can save money and meet long-term goals. Classes are held on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Job Readiness– This four-week class, geared toward students who are unemployed or underemployed, includes two weeks of basic computer instruction, one week of job readiness, and a one-week internship. The class prepares students for completing online applications, preparing a resume, writing cover letters and thank you letters. Classes are held Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and are scheduled monthly throughout the year.

Entrepreneurship & Small Business Management – This course provides students with an understanding of the entrepreneurial process, the role of the entrepreneur in the United States economy and the opportunities, challenges and rewards of being an entrepreneur and creating a new business. The class is case oriented, and active participation in class is expected. Classes are held on Mondays and Thursdays, from 5:30-7 p.m. and are scheduled in the spring and fall.
Personal Finance – This four-week course educates students about a number of personal financial issues, including financial aspects of career planning; the time value of money; money management and budgeting; consumer credit; housing decisions; the role of life insurance, health insurance and disability insurance; estate planning issues; investing fundamentals; retirement plan options including the 401K/403b and IRA options; bankruptcy law changes; and other topics of interest.
This course is scheduled based on demand.
Investing 101 – This six-week course helps students understand the fundamentals of investing in the financial markets. A primary aim of the course is to make it easier for the layman to understand investing by carefully explaining investment terminology, alternative investment opportunities, and techniques that professionals use to value various investments. Specialized knowledge is not required, but students must be committed to learning the materials.
The class will cover investing in stocks, bonds and other fixed income instruments, mutual funds, and non financial assets.
